Making your own granola at home has got to be the easiest thing ever! No more buying pre made granola from the store. Making it at home allows you to make any combination you want. Sweet, salty, spicy, savoury, the list can go on. I found this recipe online and tweaked it a bit for what I had in the pantry.

The recipe goes a lil something like this…

2 cup brown sugar

2/3 cup water

2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

8 cups old-fashioned rolled oats

2 cups raw, slivered, sliced or whole almonds

1/2 cup of flaked coconut

1/2 cup of hemp hearts

Create the syrup by heating in a sauce pan the sugar, water, spices till sugar is dissolved, then add in the vanilla once off the heat.

In a bowl, add the syrup mixture to the oats, almonds, coconut and hemp hearts.

Spread evenly-ish on 2 pans and bake in a 275F oven for an hour. Let cool and then add in some dried cranberries, raisins or chocolate!

The cayenne pepper is a fun addition as it adds a little kick to mixture. Try it out!
